I went running yesterday! (cue the confetti!) I used the MotionTraxx podcast for the first time. My choice was the Big Time Episode #5 “Big Time” at 160 BPM. The music is techno, but very upbeat and repetitive - perfect for exercising.

According to the DJ, this podcast is an 11:00 mile pace, a little faster than I am used to running. I believe I have been mostly running around a 12:00 mile. So, I ran faster and alternated with walking when it got overwhelming. I didn't measure my distance, but was out for about 40 minutes in the chilly sunshine. I expect to run again tomorrow. I am going to experiment with some of the other podcasts over the next few weeks to find out what pace I am comfortable with and which ones will challenge me.

I spent the morning sleeping in and working on the Lightning Thief unit study. Bob is at work today 12-5. They are having a half-off clothing sale.

If I am going to take the kids swimming, I better get them some lunch! We need to leave at 1.

The Lyrics Game

I've been having fun with The Lyrics Game now and then.

Each day she posts a word and challenges readers to respond with at least eight words of the lyrics of a song containing that word.

Surprisingly harder than it seems, and quite fun to read other people's responses.

Today I posted lyrics from a Van Halen song:

Jamie's been in love before,
and she knows what love is for.
It should mean, mean a little more,
Than a one night stand...

Oh, oh, oh, Jamie's cryin'....

That song was in my 2007 NaNo playlist. Ah, memories....

Go to The Lyrics Game to see what that challenge was for!

Friday Five: Music Edition

Penny did this meme and I thought I'd try it. Music memes are always hard for me. I'd love it if you did it too, so if you do, let me know :).

What are five songs that will forever remind you of high school?
1) Talking in Your Sleep - the Romantics
2) I Love a Rainy Night - Eddie Rabbitt?
3) He's So Shy - The Pointer Sisters
4) Owner of a Lonely Heart - Yes
5) Celebration - Kool and the Gang

Oh, and look at this CD set - I WANT IT! lol

Do you have a song with that "special" someone:
The song at our wedding was "Always" by Atlantic Starr.

Is there a song out there that just seems to speak to you?
These are the questions that I can never answer. Sorry!

What song gets you moving and makes you happy?
I don't dance around much any more, but there are lots of songs that make me happy. In fact a couple years ago, I made a couple custom CD's called "Lisa's Happy Mix 1" and "Lisa's Happy Mix 2". Some songs from those mixes are:
Sussudio - Phil Collins
Things Can Only Get Better - Howard Jones
Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go - Wham!
Kyrie Elieson - Mr. Mister
Follow Me - Uncle Kracker

OK, that's enough. You get the idea, right?

What is your favorite genre of music?
I do like a lot of different music - my usual choices are 80's pop or hair metal, classical, soundtracks, Christian rock/praise. I DO NOT like country or jazz.

In case you weren't around in the 80's, here's the original, so you know what he's making fun of.
