Happy Independence Day!
We hung out around here this morning and then we headed out for a picnic at our local park. There was one other woman at the picnic area when we got there and she left after just a few minutes, so we had the whole picnic area to ourselves. The sky was cloudless and endless blue and the grass was so green! The air was warm and fresh - not humid at all! It was perfect weather!
After we ate, we walked on the nature trail - around a large pond and through the woods. James took TONS of pictures of fish. Can YOU see any? There were also several kinds of dragonflies.

We saw what Bob said were cedar waxwings - VERY close to us. (This isn't MY photo; it's from the net. Birds are hard to photograph, although David DID try.)
James also heard a frog. Here he imitates it. You can also see how cheery David was all day. (Which is to say not really cheery at all. Wow, being a teenager must be really draining. Can you hear my voice just DRIPPING with sarcasm?) Oh, and also Suzy is using what we call an "ugly voice" at the end there. Sigh.
After the nature walk, we headed over to the water park (same park, different area) and the three younger kids had a blast playing in the pool. David laid on the towel most of the time, asking when we would be leaving. (Again, with the constant CHEER! lol)
On the way home, we stopped for frozen Cokes (or cherry, as the case may be) and then the kids played with the neighbor kids, whose parents were painting some trim on their house. Bob went over and talked to them! (I am soooo antisocial! I sat here and uploaded photos instead. heh) Bob then grilled some steaks (yay Angel Food) and Emily baked potatoes. Very yummy dinner!
Then we headed out to the fireworks! I'd post a video of that too, but it would be long and pretty boring actually, so I won't make you endure it. We went to a town we hadn't gone to before so we didn't know quite where would be a good viewing area. We found a spot, but it could have been better. Next year we'll know better, if we go there, that is. On the way home, we saw another set of fireworks that we had considered attending instead and it was still going on! So, maybe we'll go there instead!
A very nice day, but two late nights in a row isn't so good for the kids!
The weather is supposed to be even nicer Saturday and still nice (although hotter) Sunday. I'd like to hit some garage sales if possible and I think we'll pitch a tent and camp in the yard and do Smores.
We'd also like to clean out the camper and I should work more on my business website since I didn't do any today. I think I'm giving up on the newfangled idea and just sticking to using FrontPage for now, since that's what I know. Once I am JUST working the business, I can focus more on that, but I have to get the site up with my writing samples ASAP.
And so that's our day!
